Exciting news! We are now launching a new range of Greeting Cards and Open Edition Prints
It’s always with some excitment and a little trepidation when we introduce a brand new range of products. Taking a gamble on what we think is a great idea comes with an amount of bit of nerves as well as a small financial risk. We have no idea how they will be received by our customers. Only one or two of our friends in retail have been party to this new selection and we are very pleased with the response from them. We appreciate their input and advice.
But here we are. A range of art greeting cards and open edition prints with a sheep theme. Those of you who follow us on our social media platforms will already have seen some of the images.
To get the idea out to the market we are starting small with just four sheep breeds. If sucessful it is intended to expand the range, not only more sheep but a wider variety of subjects.
The images are all 5″ x 7″ pen and watercolour sketches. They feature four breeds of upland sheep.
Herdwick, Rough Fell, Swaledale and Welsh Mountain Sheep. Four distinctive breeds with a lot of character.
Not only have we gone for a very simple design on the 5″ x 7″ cards but we wanted a more “contemporary” look for the 6″ x 6″ cards and following a research trip to the Spring Fair at the NEC we didn’t see any other cards with a similar design to this. So we think this design is distinctive and fresh.
The 6″x 6″ cards have the sheep image backed by a “word cloud” relevant to each breed. We think that the coloured effect of the background adds an interesting style to this range of cards compared to the simpler style of the 5″x 7″ design. Once again we have opted to continue on our Eco-friendy route and had the cards printed on a thick 350gsm recycled card with a recycled kraft envelope. It will be interesting to hear what our customers think. The range of cards can be found on the new section of the shop here.
The Open Edition Prints
Our experience of shows and events means that we know how popular sheep and farm animals are as prints. Taking the four sheep images we have produced them as Open Edition Prints. Each has been printed to the exact size of the original and I individually sign each copy. They are printed professionally using the giclee method, the industry standard method of printing today. Printed using archival inks on 305gsm Cotton Etching Fine Art paper which is 100% acid free.
We are really pleased with how the prints look when framed and we are pretty sure that by keeping the price reasonable they will be popular on our stand at shows throughout the coming season. We do not offer a framing service, the prints are available either mounted or unmounted so that you can choose your own preference of 10″ x 12″ frame, a size which is usually available “off the shelf” in framing shops or online. You can view and order the prints here.
It is planned to expand the range in the coming months so that by the time we are “out on the road” we will have a whole new look to our product range. Hopefully you will be able to come along for a look. You can see where we will be attending events here.
In the meantime it is back to the easel for me to produce some brand new work as “show season” fast approaches.
We would be more than happy to hear what you think, maybe you can think of other good additions to the range, it doesn’t have to be just sheep. Why not leave a comment on this post?
Thanks for reading.
