New work now available
Andy Beck has been creating new art, primarily featuring the Lakeland Fells, now up for sale as part of his Lakeland 365 project. Despite poor weather hindering fieldwork, production continues with updated website, new pen thumbnails, and upcoming book contributions. Affordable prints of the originals are available, framed personally by Andy. New sketches will be added continuously, available on a first-come basis, but specific requests can be made via email.
A Langdale Classic
On October 3, 2008, Andy embarked on an extensive exploration of Great Langdale, targeting the high tops documented in Wainwright’s Book 4, “The Southern Fells.” His journey included peaks such as Crinkle Crags, Bow Fell, and others, aiming to gather material for his “Wainwrights in Colour” project. Starting early from The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, the day-long trek through the stunning but rugged terrain was fruitful, capturing essential references and experiencing notable features like Gladstone’s Finger, while documenting the adventure with the limited capabilities of a Fujipix S5500 camera. This endeavour provided both challenging and memorable elements, encapsulating the timeless beauty of these fells.
Sale Fell and Ling Fell in one
Andy Beck undertook a figure of eight walk on February 29, 2012, through two lesser-known fells—Sale Fell and Ling Fell—in the Lake District’s North Western area for his Wainwrights in Colour project. Starting from Brumston Bridge, he documented his journey using a Samsung WB500 camera. This easy route can also be divided into separate walks for each fell, making it suitable for families. Andy’s path included scenic views and notable landmarks such as Dodd Crag and old grouse butts, ultimately returning to the starting point.
