If you follow me on Facebook then you may already have seen some of the press coverage that I have been lucky enough to get for The Wainwrights in Colour and the imminent book launch. From walking magazines, newspapers and other media the various articles have really made the public aware not only of the book but also the background to the whole story. 
There are some people out there though who still do not grasp the complexities of the undertaking and hopefully by giving public talks such as the one at Keswick Mountain Festival in June I will be able to convey more of the ten year task than I could ever do in the book. I am under the impression that some who think that all I have done is to colour in Wainwright’s pen and ink drawings.
A consequence of all this publicity (for which I am most grateful) is that pre-orders for the book are coming in daily at a steady stream. Orders from as far afield as various parts of the USA, Europe and even Australia and New Zealand. It looks like the packaging department at Andy Beck Images (myself and Esther) is going to be rather busy in May.
Pre-ordering and collecting copies of The Wainwrights in Colour Book
Thank you to all of you who have pre-ordered copies of the book- far too many of you to thank personally. As soon as possible after the books arrive with me they will be packed and dispatched to you and I will endeavour to give you warning that they are on the way.
Collection of books. Many of you have indicated that you will be collecting books from the launch weekend at Kendal when you have pre-ordered, which is great as not only have you saved the cost of P&P but also I will be able to hand over your book to you in person. By pre-ordering you have guaranteed that a copy will be there for you.
Just to clarify one thing. As previously stated, at the launch weekend I cannot logistically have an endless supply of copies at the event. I will have books which have been pre-ordered and hopefully I will have others there for sale but this number will be subject to availability. At this time I have no idea how many people will turn up at random to buy a copy but if the publicity that I have been getting is anything to go by then hopefully I will not be stood on my own looking out of the window to the distant fells. In the next day or two I will be putting an event post on my Andy Beck Artist Facebook page if you are one of those who intends to just turn up for a copy of the book on the day, that is fine but perhaps indicate your intentions on that event page on Facebook so that I can get an idea of how many books to bring. It does not commit you to buying nor does it guarantee that there will be a copy for you there, it just increases the chances.
Also, over a period of many years many have registered their interest in obtaining a copy of The Wainwrights in Colour Book, either after visiting the exhibition at Rheged or by emailing me since that time. Recently I have emailed all those on that list about the launch of the book in May. If you think that you should be on that list but have not heard from me then do check your junk mail email box as the messages may have landed in there. Registering your interest does not guarantee that you will obtain a copy, merely that you have been informed of progress of the project and the publication of the book.
