Keswick Mountain Festival- see you there! Behind the scenes for the last couple of weeks not only have I been busy with press interviews about the book launch but also with other events for the future.
I can now reveal that I am honoured and excited to have been invited to be one of the guest speakers at Keswick Mountain Festival in June (8th-11th). This is one of the festival highlights of the outdoor activities calendar, especially in the Lake District. To have been even considered to give a talk in a 400 seat theatre about my ten year Wainwrights in Colour project is a real privilege especially when others on the programme are highly respected champions of the mountaineering world. This will be a wonderful opportunity for me to give the full background story behind the whole project, the trials and tribulations of the challenge and the methods and practicalities of completing this huge undertaking.
Not only will I be giving the talk at 4pm on the Saturday I will be there in the festival exhibition marquee, signing books and hopefully meeting festival goers over the whole weekend.
Tickets for the talk go on sale tomorrow (9th March) and here is the link to the event. Andy Beck at the Keswick Mountain Festival
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Andy Beck-
Having been a professional artist since leaving the Royal Air Force Regiment in 1988 Andy Beck has now become well known for his recent major project- The Wainwrights in Colour which has seen him exploring the Lakeland Fells to capture all the scenes in Wainwright’s Pictorial guides. Up until early 2013 Andy ran The Teesdale Gallery in the heart of Barnard Castle, County Durham which he did for 20 years. Reluctantly he had to close the gallery so that he could concentrate his efforts on completing the project. This has given him the freedom to paint at home in his studio or go out gathering references for his work. Andy lives in Teesdale in the north Pennines of England.
