Andy Beck Show Time. The 2023 show season is now in full flow.
We are now heading into the main show season for 2023. Our calendar is looking pretty full from now until the end of September. The outdoor events are generally focused on the 4 months of the summer season. However, one or two events are in October. So far we have been really pleased with the return for our efforts. Thank you to everyone who has come along and supported us so far.
We have been attending these events now for the last couple of years and have expanded the display year on year. At first we had a 3m x 3m gazebo which was good but not ideal for displaying work. Last year we upgraded that to a 4.5m x 3m setup. This allowed customers more room to browse and enjoy the larger display of work. Now for 2023 we have combined both tents to give a display area with over 15m of wall space.
Not only does this give a much larger floor space, this allows visitors to stand back and look at the work without feeling crammed in. Of course this also provides much more display space for my work.
We still have a combination of my artwork and my photography which gives plenty of choice.
At the shows I also have a small display of my sketching kit. This give visitors an insight to how I work when painting outdoors.
And a new idea for Andy Beck Show Time 2023- I even try to produce a “plein air” sketch at each show. This one is from the Ullswater Country Fair last week. We were right under the slopes of Birks so I just had to include it in the sketch.
I do intend to have other “works in progress” on the stand as well in the future.
As ever, the Wainwrights in Colour books are still popular. I love chatting to people, not only about my 10 year project but also hearing about their Wainwright journey or connection to the fells.
After every event, Esther and I discuss how we can improve the display for the next event. It makes it interesting for us and hopefully for customers as well.
We have some exciting new ideas for the future, some will take longer to implement than others. If you come along to one of the shows why not ask about our plans, we love sharing our intentions.
Please note: We regularly get asked to attend other shows but it isn’t physically possible to be at them all. As it is, we have recently updated the calendar for forthcoming events so that we are visiting locations which are more relevant to my current work subjects.
