I’ve made a tough decision. For 2025 I have decided to put the popular Guess The Fell competition on hold. So I apologise if you have emailed or PM’d me about the quiz but sadly it will not happen this year.
I already had plans and ideas for this year’s quiz theme. The images for the questions were already sketched out. However, there are a couple of reasons why I have put the competition on hold for 2025.
Firstly, I am just too busy. As you may know, the quiz here on Andy Beck Images is not just series of lakeland fell photographs. Over the years I have given the quiz an annual theme. I feel this gives the questions a unique twist. More than that, I have produced sketches of the daily challenges. Whilst these are produced as part of my ongoing Lakeland 365 project, fitting them in to my routine is quite difficult. I am currently working my way through commissions and other new work.
Secondly, as you may realise we have had a very busy summer with shows and events. My recent ventures on to the fells have been limited. When I have had chance to go out it has mostly been on the Outlying Fells. I feel a quiz based on these lesser know locations may have a more limited audience. My other outings have been away from the Lake District altogether.
Time will tell whether I get the quiz back on my calendar for future years. I all depends if my work schedule allows me the time to re-instate the Guess the Fell competition in the coming years.
I know that some of you really looked forward to the quiz and I can only apologise if you are disappointed. Keep an eye on this website or on my Facebook page as I may set random quiz questions in the coming months.
