New work now available

Anyone who follows me on my social media platforms will have seen that recently I have been producing some new work. Mostly depicting the Lakeland Fells, this new work is now available to purchase.

Lakeland Fell sketches. Sketches of the Lake District fells by Andy Beck

These images are mostly the profile sketches of various fells which are being produced as part of my Lakeland 365 project. I had intended on getting out on to the fells recently but the weather has not been settled enough to warrant me the time away from the studio. Instead I have not only been updating the website and the fell pages but also working on the pen thumbnails of many fells. Some of which have been worked up as the 5″ x 7″ pen and watercolour sketches. All of these works will feature in a book that I am currently working on.

Generally I work on the fells at random, mixing the very popular fells with the lesser known hills. Some lend themselves perfectly for painting whereas others, such as Armboth fell, not so much. Surprisingly that fell sketch has had an amazing response.

Once the fells are completed I send them all off to my printers. Each one will be available in the future as an open edition print. Some of which you can already see here but these new images will be added as prints shortly. I realise that buying original works of art is not within everyone’s reach, that’s why we produce affordable quality prints.

As the original sketches are returned to me I mount and frame every single one personally.

Mounts are cut by hand using conservation quality materials.

Solid wood frames are made using moulding which compliment this style of work.

After carefully fixing the artwork into the mount I assemble the complete frame. I am proud of the fact that I am involved with the whole process, right down to dispatching the work to clients. And this applies to all the works, whether originals or prints.

The new works are now available here on the website. You can find them here. I will be adding new sketches as and when they are available. Obviously with original works they are sold on a “first come, first served” basis. However, if there is a particular fell that you would like then drop me an email to: [email protected] I don’t class these as commissions but when that fell is completed you get the first option to buy with no obligation to do so. They will all be painted as part of the whole project anyway so getting requests for certain fells isn’t an issue.

Keep watching the website or social media for new sketches.

Thank you for reading.
