Sam Read Bookseller, Grasmere* A long established bookshop in the heart of the Lake District.

Fred Holdsworth Books, Ambleside* Another great bookshop, right in the centre of this popular Lake District town.

The New Bookshop, Cockermouth* Not only is this a great bookshop on the western side of the lake district, it also includes a wonderful coffee shop.

Bookends, Keswick* A popular bookshop in the northern part of the town centre.

Bookcase, Carlisle* This is a large bookshop in the centre of Carlisle. Not only a good selection of new books but also a wonderful range of second hand books.

The Village Bookshop, Middleton in Teesdale* Well worth a visit if you are visiting the dale.

Westwood Books, Sedbergh* A large book store at the foot of the Howgills. Allow plenty of time for browsing in here.

Just for Ewe, Coniston* Right in the centre of Coniston village this shop has a great selection of books and other gifts.

Heaton Cooper Studio. Situated in the village of Grasmere in the heart of the Lake District not only a great display of the work of the Heaton-Cooper family it is also a wonderful outlet for artists supplies (and a great café).

Ken Bromley Art Supplies One of the leading online art suppliers in the UK.

Jacksons Art Another of the leading online art suppliers in the UK

Rosemary and Co. Superb quality handmade artist’s brushes, made in Yorkshire.

James Grant Photography Develop your photography skills with James, a great photographer from the Peak District. Workshops throughout the country

Mark Gilligan Another great photographer who runs workshops and give talks on developing skills with a camera.

Other artists: Just some of the artists who have inspired me and my work.

Rob Piercy. This Welsh artist paints some wonderful landscapes both in watercolours and oils. Many feature the mountains of Snowdonia, right on his doorstep.

David J Curtis. His style of watercolour painting is superb especially the way he captures light. His oil paintings are rather special too.

Joseph Zbukvic. Another superb watercolourist, based in Australia.

Robert Bateman. This Canadian Wildlife artist is really at the top is the genre.
