Covid-19 and me. No panic- I haven’t got it, well not as far as I know.
The country and it seems the world is now gripped in a “state of emergency” over the current outbreak of Coronavirus. Whether the end result will be as bad as the WHO forecasts who can say, lets hope not.
Working from home in my studio and walking out in the dale or up on the fells I practically self-isolate anyway, apart that is when Esther comes home. Many days she is my only other human contact. I/we are both fit and healthy and despite what some of you may think, I am not in the over 70’s age bracket just yet 🙂
Covid-19 and me. On a more serious note, this event is having a huge impact on my work and more importantly my income already. Sales of my work and books through retail outlets have taken a tumble and they are likely to get worse. Events that we had planned to attend throughout the year are being cancelled or postponed. Potential sales through these methods looks pretty bleak to say the least. Even Amazon, one of my main outlets has pulled the plug on all fulfilment sales of non-essential items- including my book.
Fortunately I have a plan. But to make this plan work I need your help, not just my close friends but everyone who has so kindly supported me in one way or another in the past.
As from today I am launching my first ever item of “giftware”. It is something I have been considering for a while but by pure coincidence the product has come into stock this very day. The Wainwrights in Colour mug.
The intention is to retail this mug in 2 ways. Firstly, the mug will be a FREE gift to anyone who purchases a copy of The Wainwrights in Colour book. (UK mainland only). Secondly, the mug will be available to buy as a standalone item The Wainwrights in Colour Mug priced at £9.95 each + P&P
22.3.20 UPDATE: Thank you all for your support. As a consequence, the mug is currently out of stock but more are on order. Please continue to place your orders and as soon as they arrive this week they will be dispatched to you. Thank you.
I understand that many of you will already have purchased a copy of the book. Perhaps you may like to now own one of these rather handsome mugs? Ideal for when you are next looking through the book planning your next adventures. You may think that £9.95 may not make much difference to me and my business but believe me, it does.
Perhaps you are one of those folk who have considered buying a copy of my multi-award winning book but maybe you just “haven’t got round to it yet”. Well, perhaps now is a great time to do so. Not only will you receive your signed and numbered copy but the mug will be just perfect for a brew as you work your way through the 380 full colour pages. Maybe something to do as the whole country shuts down.
I stated earlier that I needed your help. You can support me in various ways. Either by making the purchase of the book that you have considered or simply by ordering a mug. Both will help me in this difficult time.
There is another favour that you can do for me. Many of you will either have friends who would love one of these items (or both) or you know folk to which these would appeal. There is a simple option to share this blog post across various social media platforms, it only takes one click.
Your simple actions, one way or another can make a difference to me and my work in the future. For which I will be very grateful.
Thank you for reading Covid-19 and me. Stay safe.
Andy
