Borrowdale Mill, near Keswick.
This view in Borrowdale has now become one of the most popular in the Lake District. At the time Andy took this it was hardly known. The autumn weather really brings out the colours and textures of the leaves and mosses that surround this old mill. Recently the mill has undergone some restoration any the ferns and mosses on the walls of the mill have been removed. Much of the character has now gone.

Andy Beck is a full time artist based in Teesdale in the north Pennines of England. Perhaps he is best known for his award winning book, The Wainwrights in Colour. A unique 10 year challenge which gave him an intimate insight to Alfred Wainwright’s work and the Lakeland Fells. As well as painting, Andy is a keen photographer and uses many of his images as reference for his artwork. These images are often produced as cards or prints such as this.
