Wainwright summit: GR: SD27243 97817 2633’* True height: 2633′ 802m (same location)
Summary: This is bit of an odd one regarding the height that AW gave to the fell. On all but the one inch Bartholomew map the given height was 2635′ and normally he would use height given on the OS maps by preference. On Consiton Old Man 3 though he justifies the height of 2633′ as it was how “an older generation of walkers believed it to be”. Very unusual for AW not to be lead by fact.
Topographical features: The Wainwright summit and the true summit are taken to be one and the same, the base rock that is exposed under the large man made plinth.
