Looking for an interesting speaker for an event or group? Andy may be your man.
Following the publication of the multi award-winning book The Wainwrights in Colour back in 2017 Andy has been a popular choice of speaker for groups, clubs and festivals.
His experience of giving lectures whilst serving in the Royal Air Force Regiment means that Andy is adept at keeping audiences entertained and informed in a professional manner. To date Andy has given about 50 talks. These range from large events such as the Keswick Mountian Festival and the Borderlines Carlisle Book Festival to smaller events such as local clubs and groups. U3A groups are regular audiences.
Currently his main topic is The Wainwrights in Colour. Not only a subject which he is still very passionate about but one that appeals to a wide demographic. From fans of Alfred Wainwright, outdoor types and even budding artists, all find something of interest in this theme. Andy’s experiences in this huge ten year personal undertaking provides plenty of material to keep an audience enthralled.
The talk is based around a fully illustrated Powerpoint presentation which Andy adapts for an individual location or audience. Preferring to use an “in house” audio/ visual system Andy can also bring his own equipment for the event if needed.
To keep the talks interesting and enjoyable Andy likes to keep the timings to a 45 minute talk. This is followed by a short Q&A session of approximately 15 minutes.
Andy is often asked to give talks on other subjects such as his art, photography and walking experiences. These and other “Wainwright” related subjects will be added in the future.
As you will see from the Google map below, Andy travels quite far across the north of England to give these presentations. He is already taking bookings for events in the future.
