An evening at the Beeb. It’s not often that we get a chance to go out for the evening, let alone to head up to the metropolis of Newcastle. But last Friday we were pleased to receive an invite up to the BBC Newcastle studios for the annual launch of their calendar. This calendar raises money every year for the BBC Children in Need charity. It is made up of 12 weather pictures taken in the north-east and Cumbria region which are picked monthly throughout the year.
This was the second year in a row that I was invited, last year I was one of the 12 judges, this year one of my shots had been selected for the month of January.
The two weather presenters, Jennifer Bartrum and Paul Mooney get ready to go live. The evening has a bit of a party atmosphere, with live music, food and some drinks. And at a set time the calendar was revealed live on TV as part of the Look North programme. All good fun and for a great cause.
Paul and I with my winning image for January, a snowy Harwood at the top end of Teesdale.
I had planned to add a link in here where you could buy copies of the calendar but it has just been announced that the whole print run has now sold out, doing so in 6 days.
All in all it was a real pleasure to be part of this event and of course I am humbled that one of my photographs was judged to be worthy of inclusion in the calendar.
The shot does feature here in the Teesdale Collection and in fact it is one of the most popular prints when it has been on display this year at events that I have attended.
Fingers are crossed that I will be lucky enough to take some shots as good as this in the coming year. Let’s see.
A great contribution to a good cause Andy. Well done for your winning image being part of this popular calendar that sold out very quickly.
Thank you Chris. I was honoured to have won a space in the calendar.
